The Missing Ones’ are a trio featuring Dan Cosley on guitar; Dave Moss on electric and double bass and Patrick Golden on drums. They create improvised music with the intent to compose in real time, on the spot. Each of the members in this group are highly experienced at doing just that.

The Missing Ones made a digital release on Bandcamp, titled “The B1 Sessions”, not too long ago. Here is the link: https://themissingones.bandcamp.com/album/the-b1-sessions The album was recorded with a minimal amount of production, and the sheer, raw energy of the music comes through; not to mention the dynamics, sensitivity, and deep listening that are portrayed on each piece–“The sounds of Brooklyn and Kyoto converge in this sometimes subtle, sometimes acerbic & aggressive full-length.”

The group will also be recording a new album in November, 2019.

A Chicago native, Dan Cosley has established himself as an internationally recognized guitarist, composer, and improviser. One of a very few guitarists to play both classical and jazz, Dan incorporates a wide palette of approaches and techniques into his music making. Dan relocated to Kyoto in 2017 and has quickly established himself as one of the most in-demand guitarists in Kansai.

Dave Moss, an electric and double bassist, lived in New York City for 13 years and has since relocated to Kyoto, Japan as of January, 2016. During his time in New York City he performed and collaborated with a host of important jazz artists, such as:  William Parker, Charnette Moffett, Eric McPherson, Aaron Scott, Daniel Carter, Demian Richardson and Ferenc Nemeth to name a few.  One of the biggest moments for Moss though, was meeting his long-time hero, Ornette Coleman. This introduction led to 8 years of deeply transformational meetings and sessions.

Patrick Golden has been a professional drummer in New York City for 15 years. He has performed and collaborated with renowned musicians/performers Daniel Carter, Demian Richardson, Dave Moss, and Keith Biesack. Patrick Golden has been a member of well received, successful projects like Blackcanvas, Corporate Graffiti, The Last Rhino and The Missing Ones playing in and around New York City and the greater Northeast, United States. Patrick has honed his technique and style working with the likes of Mike Clark, and Xavier Jamaal Hill. Patrick was first drawn to drumming as a young boy watching a Ginger Baker solo on television. His most pivotal moment in his musical career was discussing music, life and philosophy with revolutionary jazz icon Ornette Coleman. He evolved his technique and developed his improvisational skills throughout his 15 year career. Patrick will be returning to perform in various venues in Japan starting in November, 2019.
